Samsung company says the stretchy screen will be useful for everything from wearables displays, and could also lead to a new generation of wearable devices that can be knocked or dropped and simply move back into place. A flexible OLED screen which could stretch in both direction by 12 millimetres might spell out a new era in phone screen technology.
Samsung is also exhibiting a 5.09-inch OLED with glassless stereoscopic 3D, and a new 1.96-inch 4K LCD whose ridiculously high 2,250 pixels per inch density could be ideal for virtual reality. The market for flexible displays will continue to grow into roll-able and bendable structures in the coming years. Insiders suggest it would also mean screens were less likely to crack.
Samsung also revealed a 1.96-inch UHD (ultra high definition) display at the same conference. It will have a 2250 pixel/inch screen that would be particularly good for virtual reality headsets, reports suggest. See also http://technowe.com/super-mario-run-apk-unlocked-all-level-for-android/
The device code-named Foldable Valley will turn into a 7 inch tablet when unfolded, the report claims. It also says LG will unveil a similar product, and believes it can sell 100,000 foldable devices in the fourth quarter of this year. There is currently no indication of how close the stretchable screens are to completion.
