The picture confirms rumors of a dual-lens camera, putting OnePlus in direct competition with Apple, who introduced a dual-lens camera in the iPhone 7 Plus last year. Just days before it is officially unveiled, OnePlus has revealed the first photos of its OnePlus 5 smartphone. The firm posted the picture on Twitter, alongside a caption ‘Dual camera. Clearer photos.’
Earlier this week, OnePlus launched a new web page which shows a countdown to the official reveal. The new web page simply says ‘Focus on what matters’ along with the launch date and time of June 20th, 12:00 EDT. The OnePlus 5 was recently listed on Oppo Mart at $450, although this price is yet to be confirmed by the firm. Several rumors have been circulating about the details of the device, which is expected to be cheaper than the iPhone 7 which starts at $649. OnePlus is joining the likes of Apple, Huawei and LG, who all introduced dual lens cameras in their latest devices. A picture leaked on Android Authority shows the alleged packaging for the device, with the words ‘Dual Camera. Clearer Photos’ printed on the side.
In a video released on Monday, OnePlus also promised an increased focus on customer service, writing in a description: ‘We believe delivering the best user experience is about more than just building the best product.’ A tweet by the firm at the end of May also hinted that the device could come in a range of colours – including the black shown in the photo reveal.
The tweet read ‘What 5hould the colour of your next phone be’ alongside an image of four colour options. In the lead-up to the unveiling, OnePlus is hosting a range of pop-up events in New York, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen and Helsinki.
