Sega Publisher has declared that the upcoming Sonic Mania will be out. The game was initially expected to arrive in spring; it was announced that its launch was to be postponed. There’s a new trailer to accompany the news of a definite release date for the retro-style 2D platformer. The new trailer is a mix of animation and in-game footage. Unlike Sonic Forces, Sonic Mania is a throwback to classic Sonic games from the Sega Genesis era.
Apart from Sonic the hedgehog, Tails the fox and Knuckles the echidna will also appear in it, fighting against the evil Dr. Eggman’s robots. Meanwhile, Sonic Team is working on Sonic Forces which is slated for release in late 2017.
Multiple playable characters give you the ability to go explosively fast as Sonic, soar as Tails, or power through tough obstacles with Knuckles’ brute strength. You can re-live the Sonic of the past with an exciting new twist on classic zones while fighting against new bosses and Dr. Eggman’s evil robot army.
For many Sonic the Hedgehog fans, this is the game they have been waiting for. It is unclear why Sonic Mania has been delayed so many times (it was originally set to release in early Spring). But whatever the case may be, it won’t be too long before we’re spin-dashing around levels the way we used to when we were younger.
